The foam pads inside are very old (over 40 years) and would have deteriorated, even if the cart is sealed and has never been used.

Description
Desolation Angels is the fifth studio album by English rock supergroup Bad Company, released on March 17, 1979. The album was produced by Jack Douglas, and it features the singles “Rock ‘n’ Roll Fantasy” and “Shooting Star”.
Desolation Angels is a more polished and melodic album than Bad Company’s previous albums. The songs are more focused on ballads and mid-tempo rockers, and there is less of the bluesy hard rock that characterized the band’s early work.
The album was a commercial success, reaching number 4 on the Billboard 200 chart in the United States. It was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
